Perhaps this is the result of trying to put together an RTS game that plays well on both the PC and Xbox 360 with cross-platform competition in mind, but Universe at War falls short of greatness. Players can overcome a few of these issues with multiplayer, but there are limited options for a game that puts such strong emphasis on customization. Incredibly frustrating and game breaking, problems stem from the omniscient computer player, which can track the player's every move even when stealth units are in play, rendering the entire stealth/guerilla warfare aspect completely useless. More severe bugs include the occasional inability to target critical areas on enemies. These issues run the full gamut, and include mildly annoying problems like the inability to set unit temperament. However, there are numerous oversights and glitches that prevent the game from fulfilling its potential. Humanity - pretty much a non-participant in the strategic elements of this cosmic scuffle - has been reduced to the status of an annoying-to-harvest crop. Each of the game's factions will have unique paths to victory with completely different styles of play, allowing players from across the globe to battle it out in persistent-style online campaigns for ultimate faction supremacy.Universe at War: Earth Assault has all the right parts for a great real-time strategy (RTS) game, including three unique and customizable factions (Hierarchy, Novus and Masari). Universe At War: Earth Assault takes place in 2012, on planet Earth where three factions have decided to scrap among themselves. Universe at War: Earth Assault features innovative new multiplayer features inspired by today's top MMOs and competitive online environments, giving players achievements, rewards, and medals but in a balanced environment. A seamless integration of both the strategic and tactical mode allows you to call in reinforcements from other territories while engaged in ground warfare and take tactical troops back to the strategic level when you win so you can use them in later battles. As your heroes lead your forces into enemy territory, you will be taken into fast-paced tactical battles where the emphasis is on combat and action. The entire globe is at your command, as you manage resources, armies, and territories in the real-time strategic mode.

Here, though, the environments you are fighting for are close to home, as you wage war across familiar Earth landmarks and cities. Universe at War: Earth Assault features large-scale environmental destruction in a persistent world-level a city and when you come back, the area will still be a smoking ruin. This advance on the traditional rock-paper-scissors model of balance gives players even more control over how they respond and adapt to their opponent's strategies. With on-the-fly tactical customization, you can dynamically swap out weaponry, rework your tech tree, and retrain units in the middle of combat to thwart your foe and seize the advantage. Control massive-scale alien war machines that are fully customizable. Save the world or destroy it as you take charge of several unique factions with awesome powers and spectacular units.
